DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Lunar New Year with ALIEEP and the City of Montgomery’s Department of Cultural Affairs!\nALIEEP and the Montgomery Department of Cultural Affairs have teamed up to put on our annual Lunar New Year celebration! Community members can enjoy multicultural snacks\, games\, art\, kites\, and more at this event. Also\, you have the chance to compete for grand prizes in the Kite Competition! Attendees can bring their own kites and enter the competition to win and be recognized by ALIEEP and the City of Montgomery. \nPlease join us for this celebratory event as we bridge cultures together\, one day at a time. \nIf you are interested in participating in the kite competition\, please register here. More info below. \nIf you are interested in volunteering for this event\, please register here. \nVendors\n\n\nLocal businesses and organizations were invited to participate in the event by renting a booth to share their mission\, business\, and/or services with the Montgomery community. This was a great way to meet more of the community\, as well as build relationships between our local businesses and organizations. \nA table and two chairs will be provided for your tabling booth. Feel free to bring any information to promote your business or organization. Please follow guidelines and regulations if you are bringing food. Table locations are selected on a first come\, first serve basis. To secure your spot (1 table\, 2 chairs) at the Lunar New Year celebration\, please submit the form with a $10 registration fee and post the vendor graphic on your social media pages. \nAll culturally diverse businesses and organizations were invited to be a part of this community celebration. \n\n\n\nVendor registration fee: $20 (includes 1 table & 2 chairs; your organization can have multiple booths if necessary) \nPlease bring your business or organization tablecloth\, banner\, business cards\, coupons\, freebies\, pamphlets or any other marketing/promotional material that you will have to show and/or give out at your table.ㅤ \n\n\nCompetitions\nBring your kite for a chance to win!! DESCRIPTION:Program Overview\nALIEEP’s Community KSL (Korean as a Second Language) Class is the perfect course for non-Korean and beginner Korean speakers to build a solid foundation in the Korean language and continue their learning journey after class is completed. Our course is led by native-Korean Teaching Assistants and advanced Korean learners to help ensure that you receive an authentic education. \nA-KEEP’s Community KSL class is designed to focus on building fundamental skills to help you: \n\nBuild basic skills to communicate in Korean\nLearn from Native-Korean speakers and cultural diversity educators\nChoose between an introductory or Korean I class\nOpen to all community members\, ages 13+\n\nThe class will introduce teens and adults to the Korean language and culture twice a week for 11 weeks\, including an orientation and graduation ceremony. \nProgram Info & Fee\n6:30 – 7:30 pm | Tuesdays and Thursdays\n(Online option available) \nSeptember 2 to November 20\, 2025\nSession Time: 11 weeks; 2 days a week \nRegister for Spring 2026 here. We look forward to learning Korean with you! \nClass Levels Information\nALIEEP’s Community KSL has two language/class levels: Introductory and Korean I. \nThe Introductory Level Class has no requirements for entry. This class is best suited for those with no to very little knowledge or skills speaking Korean.\nTo apply for the Korean I Class\, please read and make sure you meet each of the Korean I Level Class Requirements: \n-Have a firm grasp on the Korean alphabet\n-Be able to read Korean out loud (we are not asking for perfect pronunciation\, but the ability to sound out a sentence as written)\n-Familiar with Korean number systems (Sino and native/pure numbers)\n-Familiar with basic introductions in Korean. \n*Class levels are dependent on enrollment numbers.

DESCRIPTION:About\nEach year\, ALIEEP partner with the Montgomery Biscuits Baseball and Pulmuone to  co-host Korean Heritage Night – a vibrant celebration of Montgomery’s Korean community. The event features cultural performances between innings\, community engagement activities\, and even a fun twist where the Biscuits rebranding as the Montgomery Kimchi for the evening! It’s a memorable and festive occasion that draws a diverse audience from across the region. \nOn Friday\, July 16th\, the Montgomery Biscuits will transform into the Montgomery Kimchi\, celebrating Korean Heritage Night pres. by Pulmuone!\nWhy Kimchi? We believe food is the gateway into culture. Just as Biscuits are a mainstay on a southern table\, Kimchi is a staple in Korean cuisine. \nWe incorporate elements of Korean culture into all elements of this game. She’s got a twinkle in her eye (which helps her see through facades)   \nDominick – Male middle schooler\, angry\, smart and a smart aleck. He has teen angst with no outlet\, so he is a bully. \nSarah – A female Indian student at the school. She is participating in the cultural arts fair and cares a lot about her grades\, but also about human rights. She dances with The Nightingales.  \nMrs. Jones – A mom bringing her kids to AWAKE for the first time. A little nervous\, also excited and self-effacing.  \nYuri – A female Korean student at the school. She is present in the cultural arts fair and has dedicated a lot of time and energy into not only project\, but those helping her with the project she’ passionate about.  \nMaya Angelou – A female activist\, poet\, speaker\, and sensation. Ms. Angelou comes back from the depths of history to help Ava tell her story.  \nMLK. JR.– Possibly one of the most famous peaceful protest activists since Ghandi.
