SUMMARY:Montgomery’s Biscuits Korean Heritage Night
DESCRIPTION:About\nEach year\, ALIEEP partner with the Montgomery Biscuits Baseball and Pulmuone to  co-host Korean Heritage Night – a vibrant celebration of Montgomery’s Korean community. The event features cultural performances between innings\, community engagement activities\, and even a fun twist where the Biscuits rebranding as the Montgomery Kimchi for the evening! It’s a memorable and festive occasion that draws a diverse audience from across the region. \nOn Friday\, July 16th\, the Montgomery Biscuits will transform into the Montgomery Kimchi\, celebrating Korean Heritage Night pres. by Pulmuone!\nWhy Kimchi? We believe food is the gateway into culture. Just as Biscuits are a mainstay on a southern table\, Kimchi is a staple in Korean cuisine. \nWe incorporate elements of Korean culture into all elements of this game. Historical heroes Yu Gwan Sun of Korea\, Sarojini Naidu of India\, Martin Luther King\, JR. and Maya Angelou make an unlikely appearance to share their stories of peaceful activism in this all – too- timely story.  \nPerformance Dates\nFriday\, May 9th\, 2025 – Evening Showing \nRegular Sale:\nStudents and Educators $15.00\nSeniors 55+\, Military $20\nAdults $25 \nCast& Production Credits\n\nAva – A thoughtful and compassionate young girl discovering her voice to create positive change through courage\, unity\, and love. \nMaddie – Famale middle schooler\, sassy and commanding. She cares a lot about that people think.\nHeadmaster Vaughn – male administrator. He runs AWAKE and loves his job. \nMrs. Wright – Female teacher. She is a great teacher\, and she knows it. She also knows the kids well and cares deeply for each of them\, even the “bad” ones. She’s got a twinkle in her eye (which helps her see through facades)   \nDominick – Male middle schooler\, angry\, smart and a smart aleck. He has teen angst with no outlet\, so he is a bully. \nSarah – A female Indian student at the school. She is participating in the cultural arts fair and cares a lot about her grades\, but also about human rights. She dances with The Nightingales.  \nMrs. Jones – A mom bringing her kids to AWAKE for the first time. A little nervous\, also excited and self-effacing.  \nYuri – A female Korean student at the school. She is present in the cultural arts fair and has dedicated a lot of time and energy into not only project\, but those helping her with the project she’ passionate about.  \nMaya Angelou – A female activist\, poet\, speaker\, and sensation. Ms. Angelou comes back from the depths of history to help Ava tell her story.  \nMLK. JR.– Possibly one of the most famous peaceful protest activists since Ghandi. SUMMARY:2025 Kite Festival
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Lunar New Year with ALIEEP and the City of Montgomery’s Department of Cultural Affairs!\nALIEEP and the Montgomery Department of Cultural Affairs have teamed up to put on our annual Lunar New Year celebration! Community members can enjoy multicultural snacks\, games\, art\, kites\, and more at this event. Also\, you have the chance to compete for grand prizes in the Kite Competition! Attendees can bring their own kites and enter the competition to win and be recognized by ALIEEP and the City of Montgomery. \nPlease join us for this celebratory event as we bridge cultures together\, one day at a time. \nIf you are interested in participating in the kite competition\, please register here. Watch it here. \nVendors\n\n\nLocal businesses and organizations were invited to participate in the event by renting a booth to share their mission\, business\, and/or services with the Montgomery community. This was a great way to meet more of the community\, as well as build relationships between our local businesses and organizations. \nA table and two chairs will be provided for your tabling booth. Feel free to bring any information to promote your business or organization. Please follow guidelines and regulations if you are bringing food. Table locations are selected on a first come\, first serve basis. To secure your spot (1 table\, 2 chairs) at the Lunar New Year celebration\, please submit the form with a $10 registration fee and post the vendor graphic on your social media pages. \nAll culturally diverse businesses and organizations were invited to be a part of this community celebration. \n\n\n\nVendor registration fee: $10 (includes 1 table & 2 chairs; your organization can have multiple booths if necessary) \nPlease bring your business or organization tablecloth\, banner\, business cards\, coupons\, freebies\, pamphlets or any other marketing/promotional material that you will have to show and/or give out at your table.ㅤ \n\n\nCompetitions\n \nBring your kite for a chance to win!! Please register online as soon as possible to secure your spot.\nParticipants competed for a chance to win grand prizes sponsored by the City of Montgomery Department of Cultural Affairs. Their kites were voted on in three categories: \n\nHighest Flying Kite\nLongest Flying Kite (time in the sky)\nMost Creative Kite Design (judged via social media)\n\nTo have a chance at winning the Most Creative Kite Design category\, participants MUST submit their social media handles (Instagram and Twitter/X) via the form for public voting via social media. This category’s winner will be determined by public polling on Instagram Stories and Twitter/X polling. Participants should let their friends\, family\, and followers know when to vote for them and how.  \nVoting will be open from 1:45pm – 3:00pm on event day. Voters will select their choice on polls on Instagram Stories and Twitter/X. GOOD LUCK! \n*2025 Registration is now closed \n \nRangoli is an ancient Indian art form involving the creation of vibrant patterns on floors\, walls\, or tabletops. It is traditionally made during festivals like Diwali to celebrate auspicious occasions. The winner of the Rangoli competition was determined by a vendor poll following the competition. \n
