About The Show

ALIEEP presents Love Over Fear, a story about the universal power of freedom, courage, unity, and kindness as seen through the eyes of three inspiring leaders from different cultures—Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. of Alabama, Sarojini Naidu of India, and Yu Gwan Soon of Korea—who teach a young girl how to overcome fear, embrace her voice, and create change through compassion and peaceful action.

Performance Dates

  • Thursday, May 8th, 2025 – Pay-What-You-Can Dress Rehearsal

We ask that attendees make a donation for this “Pay What You Can Dress Rehearsal” to support our show. All attendees will be able to interact with the cast and directors and observe the behind the scenes of the show’s production. Pizza will be provided!

Characters In The Show

  • Amira – A thoughtful and compassionate young girl discovering her voice to create positive change through courage, unity, and love.
  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – An American leader of peaceful protest and equality, who inspired others to fight for justice with love and nonviolence.
  • Yu Gwan-sun – A brave young leader who fought for Korea’s independence, showing strength in peaceful resistance and resilience.
  • Sarojini Naidu – An Indian poet and activist, mentored by Mahatma Gandhi, who used art and words to unite her people in the struggle for independence. She is known as the “Nightingale of India.
  • Magical Bookkeeper – A whimsical, otherworldly figure who safeguards the stories of peace, equality, and justice, guiding Amira through time with a magical journal.
  • International Exchange Students – A group of students from different countries, each bringing their unique cultures, traditions, and perspectives to the school, fostering diversity and learning.
  • Amira’s Parents – Well meaning, but cautious, they prefer Amira to stay out of conflicts, prioritizing safety over standing up for others.
  • Amira’s Sibling – A supportive, confident, and outspoken individual who isn’t afraid to stand up for what is right.
  • Ensemble – Students, dancers, singers, peaceful protesters

    • Yes, there is a matinee on Friday, May 9th, reserved for K12 students and educators to attend.

    • Themes and lessons in the show include non-violent/peaceful resistance and protest, freedom, unity, kindness, standing up for what is right, and multicultural education through music, art, and dance.

    • There are minor scuffles between students and portrayals of bullying.
