Dr. Purcell brings an unwavering commitment to our education system, and his dedication to advancing statewide higher education is truly commendable. Through his faithful devotion, he has worked tirelessly to make higher education more accessible, more affordable, and better aligned with workforce needs. In Rhode Island, he led efforts to increase college completion and support economic growth. While in Louisiana and Arkansas, he managed complex higher education systems and oversaw state financial aid programs. Through strong and lasting partnerships, Dr. Purcell has served on key policy boards, including SHEEO, the Southern Regional Education Board, and the New England Board of Higher Education. He also currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Alabama International Education and Economic Partnership, ALIEEP. In recognition of his outstanding impact, Dr. Purcell was honored with the SHEEO Award for Exceptional Leadership.
