Dr. Stacye Thompson

Dr. Stacye Thompson is the Responsible Officer (RO) for the ALIEEP J-1 program. She has worked in immigration advising for students and scholars for more than 30 years,

Dr. Stacye Thompson is a highly respected international education professional with more than 30 years of experience in international student services, immigration advising, admissions, study abroad programming, and community outreach. She has dedicated her career to helping both domestic and international students succeed through access to global education opportunities and cross-cultural engagement. Throughout her career, she has focused on supporting diverse student populations and strengthening internationalization efforts within higher education institutions.

Currently serving as the Executive Director of Study Alabama and formerly the Coordinator of International Student Services at Jefferson State Community College, Thompson is widely recognized for her leadership in community college internationalization and student advocacy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Florida State University. Her work and research have focused on international education strategy, immigrant and refugee student transitions, and expanding global learning opportunities. A Fulbright International Education Administrator participant and active contributor to the field of international education, Thompson is known for her passion for mentorship, cultural exchange, and creating welcoming environments for students from around the world.
