On October 3, 2025, Ms. Mary’s twenty-seven Korean language students and two parent chaperones attended Auburn University’s Moon Festival!

Ms. Mary consistently exposes her Korean language students to culturally enriching traditions and events. In September, ALIEEP visited her class for the Make and Take community program, where students learned calligraphy and the importance of language from Mrs. Muse, a local calligraphist. Read about the event here.

Our Bridge Builder, Cameran Collins, an alum of Auburn University, assisted Ms. Chon in providing support to and from the event. He even informed the students about some of the university’s history, showcasing key attractions around campus.

The event impressed the students—they watched performances, played games, and wore traditional Korean attire. Ms. Mary’s classroom showcases ALIEEP’s vision for Alabama’s future: a generation with a global mindset and openness to other cultures.

We look forward to more moments from Ms. Mary Chon’s class and our other teachers! ALIEEP will remain committed to providing opportunities for multilingual and multicultural exchange across Alabama.
